Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLAASMB) Appoints New Director General

The Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLAASMB) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Shantha Halloluwa as its 5th Director General, effective from September 1, 2025.

Mr. Halloluwa brings over two decades of extensive experience in the finance, accounting, and auditing fields, with a strong international background gained across diverse sectors, including multinational corporations, FMCG, banking, and commercial entities.

Prior to joining SLAASMB, he served as the Director of Technical and International Relations at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka). He also held the prestigious position of Executive Secretary for the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in 2024, where he played a key role in advancing the accounting profession throughout the South Asian region.

A distinguished professional, Mr. Halloluwa is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He holds a Bachelor of Science Accountancy (Special) Degree and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) Degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

SLAASMB established under Act.No.15 of 1995 is the sole authority in the country vested with the regulatory power to monitor the financial statements of economically significant entities to identify violations of compliance with Sri Lanka Accounting standards and the sole authority empowered to inspect the work of the auditors in the country.

The SLAASMB looks forward to Mr. Halloluwa’s leadership and expertise in upholding and enhancing the integrity of application of accounting and auditing standards in Sri Lanka.

Session on Non-Compliances with Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards as Identified by SLAASMB

An exclusive workshop on, ‘Non-Compliances with Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards as Identified by SLAASMB’ was conducted on 26th of September 2024 at CA Sri Lanka by Director General, Ms Anusha Mohotti, Deputy Director General, Ms Hafsa Banu Razzak and Director Supervision, Ms Kalani Hettiarachchi for CA Members with a view to improve the quality in the preparation of financial statements and the conduct of audits in the country.

Session Conducted for the undergraduates at University of Sri J’pura

Session on the internship program at SLAASMB was conducted by Deputy Director General, Ms Hafsa Banu Razzak and Director Supervision, Ms Kalani Hettiarachchi for the undergraduates of the Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on 31 October 2023.
